Basse-Normandie -Basse-Normandie Region (Lower Normandy) is a region of France. It was created in 1956, when the Normandy region was divided into Basse-Normandie and Haute-Normandie. The capital city of the Region is Caen.

Caen is a city and a commune of northwestern France. It is known in particular for its historical buildings built under William the Conqueror. The castle (Ch?teau de Caen), built ca. 1060 by William the Conqueror, who successfully conquered England in 1066, is one of the largest medieval fortresses of Western Europe. Camembert is most famous as the place where Camembert cheese originated. The cheese is named after the village and it was created in 1791. Camembert is made from unpasteurized cow's milk, and is ripened by the moulds penicillium candidum and penicillium camemberti for around two weeks.
Honfleur is a harbour commune in the Norman d?partement of Calvados, in France, located on the southern bank of the estuary of the Seine, very close to the exit of the Pont de Normandie.
